Kenya Union Party (KUP) has distanced itself from the planned demonstrations by the Azimio la Umoja-One Kenya coalition.
KUP party leader John Lonyangapuo says Azimio affiliate parties were not involved in the planning of the the demonstrations .
“The Azimio coalition represents the biggest threat to democracy, the rule of law, and national cohesion in our nation’s recent history.
“Arising thereof, today we lay bare the instrument that was meant to hold the coalition together and to guide its path forward so that Kenyans may see the deceitful nature of the current arrangement,” he said.

At the same time,Lonyangapuo faulted the manner in which East Africa Legislative Assembly (EALA) nominations were done saying it was “dynastic”.
“The just concluded EALA nominations affirm Azimio is a dynastic enterprise that in reality is a personal vessel for a chosen few.
“That the KUP is equivocally dissociating itself from the demonstrations by the ODM party under the guise of collective Azimio decision,” he said.
Cracks are emerging in the Raila Odinga led coalition with affiliate parties taking varying positions on planned anti-government rallies.
Already,KANU has made it clear that it will not take part in any street protests with jubilee party staying divided on the matter.
Meanwhile Wiper leader Kalonzo Musyoka says his party will take part in the rallies while his party chairman Chirau Mwakere insists that Wiper members will not attend the rallies.
