Kenyan rising star and former Chelsea FC player Thomas Silko Amari Otieno has been recognized among the top young talents in the Premier League 2.
Thomas was on April 5, 2024, named among a list of eight players who have been nominated for the Premier League 2 Player of the Month award for March.
“The nominees have been selected by the Premier League Football Development Panel. The panel will also decide the winner, who will be announced next week,” said Premier League.
The 2004 born midfielder who plies his trade with Championship side Leicester City FC impressed in the month of March registering three goals and one assist.
He showcased his prowess as his two goals to start the month helped his team see off rivals Leeds United 2-0.
Additionally, the 19-year-old midfielder’s goalscoring form continued in the following match as he netted in a narrow 4-3 loss at Everton before turning provider to a goal in a draw against Aston Villa.
Amari’s main competitors include Fulham’s Adrion Pajaziti who put in an incredible display in March.

Pajaziti contributed to 10 of the 15 goals scored by Fulham last month in the month of March, scoring five goals and assisting five.
On the other hand, Southampton’s Sam Amo-Ameyaw also poses as a worthy competitor having scored two and provided three assists.
Other players battling it out with Thomas represent teams such as Liverpool, Newcastle, Chelsea, Sunderland and Middlesbrough.

Otieno has also been impressive in other competitions for Leicester City this season.
The Kenyan prospect was on the scoresheet as Leicester City’s Development Squad defeated Brentford B 3-2 to progress into the Premier League Cup last-16.
Otieno, who has now scored three goals in 11 Youth team appearances is keen to keep impressing until he becomes a permanent fixture in the first team.
Amari is predominantly a wingback who can play on both sides and also plays as a midfielder.

The 19-year-old joined Leicester City after he was named among a list of 13 ex-Chelsea players released ahead of the 2023/24 season. Otieno had been on trial with Sheffield United in January 2023, but the move did not materialize.
Thomas who contributed to the U21 side at times while at Chelsea has represented England at both the U15 and the U18 levels.
At Chelsea, he made four appearances with the Under 18s in the UEFA Youth League and six for the Chelsea U21 side in the Premier League 2.
Premier League 2 is a competition that replaced the Under-21 Premier League from 2016/17 to bring players as close as possible to first-team experience.
Amari’s Leicester City on the other hand are second in the Championship in their quest for promotion back to the Premier League.
