Kenyan media personality Adelle Onyango has been selected to serve as a jury member for the World Health Organization’s (WHO) film festival, Health For All Film Festival (HAFF).
Adelle will join Hollywood actress Sharon Stone and Dr Socé Fall, the Director of Neglected Tropical Diseases at WHO, in judging the festival’s Universal Health Coverage (UHC) category.
In an interview, Adelle expressed her excitement at working with Sharon Stone, a global icon and women’s rights activist. She also noted her pride in being a part of a festival that recognizes the power of storytelling to bring attention to important global health concerns.

“It’s incredible to work alongside Sharon Stone, a global icon who has not only starred in films we love but has done incredible work empowering women and people living with HIV/AIDS,” Adelle said. “It’s incredible to join her as a jury member in a festival that recognizes the power of storytelling to change the world. This is a premise I believe in and is the foundation on which I’ve built Legally Clueless Africa. I look forward to viewing how global health concerns are brought forward through film.”
The festival seeks to promote health through the medium of film and to improve the impact of films on communication for better health. Adelle noted that well-produced and targeted films have the potential to directly improve the health status of some groups by encouraging behavior change and providing knowledge, motivation, or skills needed to act.
“Well-produced and well-targeted short films can even sometimes directly improve the health status of some groups by encouraging behavior change or providing knowledge, motivation, or skills needed for people to take action,” Adelle said.
Promoting Health and Wellness Through Film
The WHO’s Health For All Film Festival is an initiative that seeks to connect people to join the movement for health promotion through films. The festival invites filmmakers, production companies, NGOs, communities, students, and film schools to submit films that address health issues.
As a jury member, Adelle will join a panel of experts who will review the films and select the winners. The festival will highlight the winning films at the WHO’s World Health Assembly and other international events.
Adelle’s selection as a jury member for the Health For All Film Festival is a testament to her passion for promoting health and wellness through the media.
