The Insurance Regulatory Authority (IRA) has announced scholarship opportunities for master’s degree studies at BAYES Business School, United Kingdom.
In a statement on February 11, the authority said it is offering eight scholarship opportunities to Kenyans interested in pursuing Master of Science degree in Actuarial Science.

The scholarships are open to graduates of Actuarial Science with at least Second-Class Upper Division Honours or an equivalent Actuarial science qualification.
Additionally, the applicant should have graduated not more than six years ago, and the applicant should have made significant progress towards becoming associate members of the institute or faculty of actuaries with a minimum of five professional papers.

The scholarship will cater for tuition, travel and accommodation and any other incidental expense.

Bayes Business School
Bayes Business School was founded in 1966 as part of City University, London. Its MSc in Administrative Sciences began in 1967 and became the MBA in 1979.
The school had previously been spread out across the City of London’s mainly residential Barbican center development.
Half of the £40 million in funding for the new building came from the reserves of City University.
The school’s MBA is offered full-time through a one-year course, through a two-year part-time Executive MBA, or through a two-year modular Executive MBA.
In September 2007, the business school started the EMBA programme in collaboration with DIFC (Dubai international Financial Center)

The Insurance Regulatory Authority is a statutory government agency established under the Insurance Act, CAP 487 of the Laws of Kenya to regulate, supervise and develop the insurance industry.
It is governed by a Board of Directors which is vested with the fiduciary responsibility overseeing operations of the Authority and ensuring that they are consistent with provisions of the Insurance Act.
The Authority is the successor of the Office of the Commissioner of Insurance which came into existence with the enactment of the Insurance Act, CAP 487 in 1986. Prior to this, insurance regulation was based on the UK legislation under the Companies Act 1960.

Completed application forms together with copies of identification, results slips/transcripts, academic certificates, birth certificate and school leaving certificate should be sent to:
