The Salaries and Remuneration Commission (SRC) has approved the second phase of salary increments for civil servants, including teachers, under the 2025–2029 remuneration review cycle, with the revised pay taking effect on July 1, 2026, and will be paid in the August payroll.
This new Teachers Service Commission (TSC) salary structure raises monthly pay by between Sh693 and Sh2,055, depending on job grade.
In a circular dated July 16, the commission directed that teachers who are still in their current scales will retain their current job grades and salary points.
Those whose annual salary increment date falls between July 1, 2026 and June 30, 2027 will receive their annual increment before being converted to the revised salary structure.
“This Circular shall apply to all teachers in service as at July 1, 2026, except interns. This Circular shall supersede Circular No. 14/2026. Future 2027 teachers’ conversion into the new scales shall remain on their annual increment dates. However, where the increment date falls after conversion, teachers will be granted their annual increment on the existing salary scale before the new salary points will take effect from the same date,” read the circular.
