Mololine Services Limited is one of Kenya’s established passenger transport and logistics companies.

Founded in 1994 and commencing operations in 1995, the company has grown from a shuttle operator into a transport business offering passenger travel, parcel delivery, car hire, insurance, and logistics services.

The company is headquartered in Nakuru and serves major towns across Kenya through an extensive network of shuttle and coach services.

Mololine History and Ownership

Mololine Services Limited was founded in 1994 by businessman Kibera Muchai and officially commenced operations in 1995 at the Nakuru bus terminal.

The company entered Kenya’s road transport sector as a shuttle operator, focusing on passenger transport between Nakuru and other major towns.

During its early years, Mololine distinguished itself through structured passenger boarding systems and operational reforms aimed at improving service delivery.

The company was among the transport operators that introduced organized queuing systems and later adopted uniforms for drivers and conductors.

As demand for road transport grew, Mololine expanded its fleet and route network beyond Nakuru.

The company established services connecting major towns including Nairobi, Kisumu, Kericho, Eldoret, Kitale, Kabarnet, Busia, Migori, Sirare and Mombasa.

In 2004, the company introduced the Prestige Shuttle service, targeting passengers seeking a higher level of comfort.

The move marked Mololine’s entry into premium passenger transport services.

Mololine later expanded into coach services to complement its shuttle operations and serve longer routes across the country.

The company also diversified into parcel delivery, logistics, car hire, insurance agency services and fleet management.

The company operates as Mololine Services Limited and remains privately owned.

Some of the company’s busiest corridors include Nairobi-Nakuru, Nairobi-Kisumu, Nairobi-Eldoret, Nairobi-Kitale and Nairobi-Kericho, linking Kenya’s commercial, agricultural and administrative centres.

It operates using modern passenger vans with fewer occupants than conventional public service vehicles, providing more space and convenience during travel.

Shuttle Services

Mololine’s shuttle service forms the backbone of its passenger transport business.

The company operates a fleet of Nissan and Toyota vans designed to carry a limited number of passengers, allowing for spacious seating arrangements and frequent departures on key routes.

The shuttle service connects major towns including Nairobi, Nakuru, Kisumu, Eldoret, Kitale, Kericho, Kabarnet and Naivasha.

Coach Services

In addition to shuttle operations, Mololine introduced coach services to cater to growing passenger demand on longer routes.

The coaches operate alongside the shuttle fleet and serve major transport corridors across the country.

Mololine says its vehicles are designed to provide passenger comfort through spacious seating arrangements and professionally managed services.

The company also states that its drivers undergo regular training and evaluation as part of its service standards.

Other Services

Besides passenger transport, Mololine has diversified into several business lines that support its transport and logistics operations.

Mololine operates a parcel and luggage delivery service across its route network.

Customers can send documents, parcels, boxes, and other goods for collection at the company’s offices in various towns.

The company also offers car hire services for individuals, businesses and organizations seeking short-term or long-term vehicle rental solutions.

The company also operates an insurance agency business, offering motor vehicle and other insurance products to customers.

Mololine offers fleet management services as part of its transport-related business operations.

The company also operates the Seven Seas Hotel and Restaurant at its Nairobi facility, providing accommodation and dining services to travelers and other customers.
