Doctors in the country have said that Kenya is not prepared to handle an outbreak of the Ebola virus
Through the Kenya Medical Practitioners and Dentists Union, the medics dismissed claims by the Ministry of Health that the country is prepared to handle Ebola, should cases be registered in the country.
Speaking during a press conference in Nairobi on Saturday, the union’s National Executive Council cited the example of the suspected case reported in Busia on Friday, saying the delay in releasing the test results shows lack of preparedness.
Consequently , the doctors union wants enhanced testing mechanism and employment of more healthcare workers.
Further,KMPDU is pushing for the equipping of hospitals with PPEs and training for healthcare workers.

“It is better to over prepare than to be caught by surprise,” the officials said.
Kenya has no confirmed cases of Ebola.
In neighbouring Uganda, the first doctor and second health worker died of Ebola on Saturday.
Early this week, the Ministry of Health had assured Kenyans that the country was prepared to handle any eventuality should Ebola cases be reported within the borders.
