The Women Enterprise Fund (WEF) has announced empowerment opportunities under the women and youth aggregators recruitment targeting Kenyan women and youth.
In a statement on September 26, WEF said the opportunities will be offered by Self Help Africa (SHA) in partnership with United States Agency for International Development (USAID) through TradeMark Africa (TMA).
“To our esteemed beneficiaries, WEF invites applications from women and youth to participate and benefit in the following economic empowerment program,” WEF said.
Qualifications
To be eligible for consideration, applicants must meet the following requirements
- Be women or youth (aged 18-35 years) actively involved in agribusiness aggregation.
- Have been operational for at least 1 year in the aggregation business of agricultural produce.
- Have experience working with women and youth producers in agricultural value chains.
- Be committed to the project objectives of empowering women and youth in agribusiness.
“Interested aggregators are required to submit their applications online via email ONLY to: eunice.mumo@selfhelpafrica.org with email subject line clearly stating SHA-WITAGGREGATORS,” WEF said.
Other Requirements
Applications must include a brief description of your business or group and its role in the value chain.
There must also be evidence of smallholder farmer support and operational experience. Applicants are required to attach their farmer database.
Additionally, applicants must provide a short statement of interest detailing why they are the ideal candidate for this opportunity and contact details for references.
The deadline for submitting applications is Friday, September 27, 2024.

WEF Groups & Loans
The Women Enterprise Fund is an Affirmative Action Fund that mainly provides affordable loans for business development to women organized in groups, through a digital platform.
WEF is mandated to provide subsidized credit to Kenyan women entrepreneurs for enterprise development.
The Fund also ensures capacity building for women entrepreneurs and their organizations. It also supports women-oriented micro, small and medium enterprises to develop linkages with large enterprises.
Additionally, it attracts and facilitates investment in micro, small and medium enterprises-oriented infrastructure such as business markets or business incubators that will be beneficial to women enterprises.

To create a WEF group, one must be a female Kenyan Citizen of 18 years and above, not be in another group and have an active in M-PESA account.
The members must accept the terms and conditions for the product and the invite to be added to the group, hold a valid ID document (National ID / Passport) and have a registered sim card.
The sim card should have been in operation for at least six months and three months active on M-PESA.
WEF clarified that the group should have a minimum of 10 members with a maximum of 30 members inclusive of the officials.
