Dr Peter Nderitu Githaiga is a Kenyan scholar whose academic journey stands out for both its depth and breadth. Over nearly two decades, he has pursued learning across law, finance, public policy, business and tourism—building one of the most diverse academic portfolios in Kenya’s higher education space.

The scholar holds two PhDs, two master’s degrees, two bachelor’s degrees and two diplomas, and is also a qualified Advocate of the High Court of Kenya. In addition, he holds several professional certifications.

Born and raised in Nyandarua County, Dr Githaiga began his formal education at Munyu Primary School, where he completed his Kenya Certificate of Primary Education in 1998.

He later joined Gatundia Secondary School, where he sat his Kenya Certificate of Secondary Education examinations in 2004. His early schooling laid the foundation for an academic path that would span more than two decades.

Alongside his postgraduate studies, Dr Githaiga pursued professional qualifications in banking and accounting. From 2013 to 2020, he pursued the Associate Diploma (Advanced) in Banking at the Kenya Institute of Bankers, complementing his academic grounding with practical training in the financial sector.

His performance in professional examinations consistently placed him among the top candidates nationally, earning him recognition from both KASNEB and AKIB.

In 2013, he enrolled for a Bachelor of Laws degree at Moi University, completing it in 2017. He later proceeded to the Kenya School of Law, where he completed the Advocates Training Programme between 2021 and 2022, qualifying as an Advocate of the High Court of Kenya.

His legal training has been closely aligned with his work in finance, public procurement, corporate governance and financial regulation.

Dr Githaiga earned his Doctor of Philosophy in Business Management (Finance) from Moi University between 2015 and 2020, focusing on advanced financial systems and management research. He is also currently pursuing a Master’s degree in Public Administration and Public Policy at Moi University’s School of Arts and Social Sciences, reflecting a growing focus on public sector governance and policy design.

His teaching career at Moi University spans more than a decade. He began as a part-time lecturer between 2011 and 2014, teaching accounting, financial management, costing and business law.
