Biography
Aaron Cheruiyot is the Senator for Kericho and Majority Leader in the Senate.

Cheruiyot attended Unity Primary School, thereafter, proceeded to Kericho High School for his secondary education.
The senator holds a Bachelor of Arts in Language and Literary Studies from Moi University. He is currently pursuing master’s in business administration (MBA) at Kenyatta University.
During his tenure at the University, he vied for Students Organization (MUSO) chairman’s seat in 2008 but lost out narrowly to Moses Orango.
However, in 2009, Aaron was suspended from Moi University for a year for leading a protest against transport cartels in Kesses that did not want the business opened up to other interested businessmen.
Politics
Senator Cheruiyot was one of the youngest Senator to be elected to Kenyan Parliament at 29 years in 2016.
He served in crucial Senate Committees that include Finance and Budget, Energy and Standing Committee on Devolution Intergovernmental Relations, Committee on ICT among others.
The legislature played an important role in successfully enacting important Legislations including the Tea Bill.
Similarly, he sponsored other Bills which include Sports (Amendment) Bill, 2021, Persons with Disability (Amendment) Bill, 2020 and County Government (Amendment) Bill, 2018.
At the same time, he served as the Commissioner in the Parliamentary Service Commission (PSC). At PSC he served with distinction as the Chair staff welfare, Member of Member’s Welfare and Member Security and Development committees.
On the other hand, senator Cheruiyot is a Captain Bunge FC where he skippered the team to winning various titles in the regional tourneys.
As a senior member, Senator Cheruiyot is recognized as an articulate debater, known for his passion, wit, and sharp remarks that consistently capture the Speaker’s attention.
Senator Cheruiyot holds the record as the youngest Majority in the Senate while serving his third term as the Senator for Kericho County.
