In the wake of the passing of renowned Nollywood actor John Okafor, also known as Mr Ibu, his adopted daughter, Jasmine, has caused a stir by allegedly renaming his personal TikTok account, which had over a million followers, to her own name.
She also removed all of the late actor’s videos from the account, leaving only those featuring herself. This move has sparked outrage on social media, with fans accusing Jasmine of tampering with Mr. Ibu’s legacy.
The President of the Actors Guild of Nigeria, Dr. Emeka Rollas, confirmed the actor’s death on March 2nd, stating that he passed away due to cardiac arrest.
The actor had recently returned from the hospital after undergoing successful surgeries that led to the amputation of one of his legs.
Blogger Tosin Silverdam Accuses Jasmine
The digital storm erupted as blogger Tosin Silverdam accused Jasmine, of swiftly seizing control of the actor’s TikTok account.
In an Instagram post, Tosin raised questions about the timeline of this move, suggesting that Jasmine might have been aware of Mr. Ibu’s demise before it happened.
Adding to the controversy, Tosin highlights the stark contrast between Jasmine Okafor’s thriving personal TikTok account, boasting over 1 million followers, and her decision to take down Mr. Ibu’s page along with all its content.
He further highlighted that the account, which had over 1 million followers, was originally called @realmribu but now appears as @LadyJasminec_live.
The blogger feels that even though Jasmine had been managing the actor’s TikTok account for several years, this move was suspicious.
