Tory Lanez Conviction
Tory Lanez was sentenced to 10 years in prison on August 8, after being convicted in December 2022, of three felonies, including assault with a semi-automatic weapon.
Megan Thee Stallion, the Grammy-winning rapper, took the stand during last year’s assault trial against Lanez, and testified that she had received death threats on social media and still had nerve damage after he shot her in the feet in the wake of an argument.
Megan, 28, was shot in both feet after a party in 2020, accusing her former pal Lanez, of shooting at her and ordering her to dance.
Moreover, she underwent a medical procedure to remove bullet fragments from her feet.
After a long trial, the jury found rapper Lanez guilty and slapped her with a 10-year sentence.
Before the trial, the case played out on social media and in music released by both rappers.
On an album released in 2020, more than two months after the encounter, Lanez rebutted Megan Thee Stallion’s account and defended herself on Instagram.

Prosecutors said that in July 2020, in the early morning hours after a party in Los Angeles, Lanez lashed out at Stallion after she had criticized his rap abilities.
He later fired toward her feet as she walked away from the vehicle, they had both been riding in.
Also, the defense disputed that Lanez fired the shots, suggesting it could have been another woman who they claim was upset that the two rappers had been intimate.
Months earlier, her collaboration with Beyoncé on a remix of “Savage” became her first No. 1 Billboard hit.
Furthermore, that year, the blockbuster song “WAP” — a viral collaboration with Cardi B — turned her into an even bigger star.
