Three Kenyan Podcasters have been named top ten in Africa on Spotify.
The global online streaming platform Spotify made this announcement on X while marking International Podcasters Day.
The Kenyan Podcasts that made it to the top are, The Sandwich which came first hosted by Joan, Kibz, Nyamita and Owen, while The Messy in Between (TMI) its definitely TMI! came second hosted by Joan Murugi Munyi and Lydia K.M and So this is Love hosted by Julia Gaitho took the third place.

The Sandwich Podcast
The Sandwich podcast is a fast-pacing podcast in Kenya, with a delivery in a mix of English, Swahili, and Sheng.
Most of their topics on the podcast are inspired by the hosts’ life experiences and the guests they feature.
Notably the podcast has taken the space with its candid conversations going on around them. It has featured several top celebrities as well as politicians in the country. Its most vibrant politician guest was Nairobi Governor Johnson Sakaja interviewed a month ago.
According to Spotify, The Sandwich podcast is the most listened to podcast in Kenya with a streaming of over one hundred thousand monthly listeners with a huge following as well on Instagram.
The Messy in Between Podcast
The Messy in Between hosted by Murugi Munyi and Lydia Karleen Mukami, well known as Lydia K.M is popularly known for talking about life issues and the messes in between.
Moreover, the 2-year-old Podcast has won awards in the past including Pulse Awards in which they bagged the podcast of the year award.

Further, the TMI Podcasters have taken the streaming online space with topics ranging from love, money relationships work, with the hosts sharing their experiences.
While covering the topics as well as advising its audience led by life experience and all the things that make life what it is, TMI also provides a safe space for women to discuss their experiences candidly.
Subsequently TMI has fifty thousand monthly listeners and over one hundred thousand following on Instagram.

Spotify Podcasts Fund
The three Kenyan Podcast are among 13 other African Podcasts selected for Spotify funding dubbed the ‘Africa Podcast Fund’.
A first-of-its-kind podcast initiative on the continent, the Africa Podcast Fund, has the goal of supporting podcasters and further amplifying their stories.
Notably the Sh12million fund aims to bolster the careers of podcast creators through financial grants, workshops, and networking opportunities.
Likewise, Spotify’s podcast manager for Sub-Saharan Africa Ncebakazi Manzi noted that there has been an immense increase in podcast listenership in recent years.
“In Nigeria for instance, which is ranked second after south Africa in Podcast consumption, there was a 222% increase in listeners between 2021 and 2022, these two countries are followed by Kenya, Angola and Ghana, “said Manzi
