Kenyan musician Arrow Bwoy has brushed off his recent boxing loss at the Vurugu 2 celebrity event, choosing instead to turn the online reaction into a marketing opportunity for his upcoming music.
The singer suffered a second-round technical knockout (TKO) at the hands of Ugandan businessman and socialite Shakib Cham Lutaaya during the bout held at the Sarit Expo Centre in Nairobi on June 20.
The match had drawn online attention in the lead-up, including a tense weigh-in during which Arrow Bwoy threw an egg at his opponent.

Following the fight, social media was flooded with memes about the position Arrow Bwoy fell into after the knockout.

In a Facebook post, Arrow Bwoy used the viral attention to promote his upcoming song, Bei Ya Leo, set for release next Tuesday. He jokingly downplayed the loss, calling the knockout part of a creative concept.
“BeiYaLeo drops this coming Tuesday. Remember, I am still the baddest celebrity boxer in East and Central Africa. Whatever happened on Saturday last week was just a photoshoot for the cover of my latest project. Haikuwa KO.”

Fans shared opinions in response to the performance and the singer’s reaction. Some offered encouragement, while others urged him to focus on music.
Emmanuel Masoni, wrote, “Bro has now gained consciousness since that day when the blow took him down. Anyways tuko na ww hadi sunami.”

In the headline bout, Phil emerged victorious after defeating Gachau Njoroge via a Technical Knockout (TKO) in the sixth round.
In another high-profile matchup, Shakib Cham delivered a dominant performance, stopping Arrow Bwoy with a second-round TKO.
James Mbali Mbali made a comeback victory, defeating Alfayo Siwo via TKO.
Tyson Mauru secured a win over Clinton, taking the bout on a unanimous decision after going the distance and earning the judges’ approval.
