Auctioneers on Wednesday, June 12, 2024, confiscated 10 vehicles from the Mediheal hospital in Nakuru due to salary arrears in the tune of Ksh53 million owed to 17 doctors and other staff.
In a video seen by The Kenya Times, auctioneers were seen towing a van out of the Mediheal Nakuru branch, among other assorted machines and electronics.
Mediheal Group of Hospitals, that is owned by former Kesses MP Swarup Mishra, has been struggling financially since 2022. The situation is concerning, considering the impact on healthcare services and the well-being of employees.
John Muthee from Tango Auctioneers mentioned that there is an additional legal order awaiting action.
He also stated that there’s an unpaid bill of Ksh13 million remaining, including costs not yet settled. Muthee warned that if there’s no response from the hospital, he will proceed to sell the vehicles.
“On top of this, there is another warranty of Ksh13 million coming, for cost and other things that haven’t been covered.
The cars belong to Mediheal and I must see that I seize them, failure to get communication I will sell them,” John Muthee from Tango Auctioneers said.

Consequently, an auction was planned for July 2nd, 2024, to sell Mediheal Group Limited’s valuable land parcels near Eldoret Post Office at 11:00 AM.
Jomuki auctioneers listed several properties for auction, including land at Blossom Area, Ngeria Centre, and Elgon View-Greenvale Area.

Additionally, the Kenya Renal Association raised concerns about unethical kidney transplants at Mediheal Hospital in Eldoret. The association accused the hospital of involvement in kidney sales and transplant tourism, going against international health regulations and Kenya’s laws.
The Renal association recommended suspending the hospital’s license and licenses of medical staff involved and called for investigations, disciplinary actions, and legal proceedings against those found guilty.
