Bishops from the Jesus Winner Ministry branch in Nyeri have issued a warning to Gen Z, who are planning to occupy the Jesus Winner Ministry main branch in Roysambu, Nairobi.
Speaking to the press, the bishops urged Gen Z not to disrupt the Sunday service at the church.

The clerics defended Bishop Edward Mwai’s decision to accept a donation of Ksh 20 million from President William Ruto, arguing that they have no moral authority to reject any offerings brought to them.
“Bishop Mwai has done the right thing because he is building an altar for the people, including orphans, widows, the poor, and the needy who will receive help there. I would like to tell other pastors doing God’s work that they should accept contributions when they receive them,” said Reverend Benson Mwangi of the Jesus Winner Ministry.

His sentiments were echoed by Reverend Veronica Waruguru, who stated that the church does not have the ability to determine whether the money offered to the clergy is “clean” or not.

Bishop Charles Thuo of the Jesus Winner Ministry urged Gen Z not to organize protests in the church but to come and worship, seeking salvation instead.
“So Gen Z, tomorrow do not agree to go there to protest. Instead, come to seek God, get saved, and address your issues so that things may improve,” Bishop Thuo urged.
The bishops’ statements come after a group of Gen Z individuals started an online campaign called #OccupyJesusWinner in response to President Ruto’s donation of Ksh 20 million to Bishop Mwai, along with a pledge of an additional Ksh 100 million for the church.

Critics online have argued that Bishop Mwai should not have accepted the donation, claiming it comes from proceeds of corruption.
They also contended that the bishop should not host President Ruto due to alleged atrocities committed by his regime, including rampant corruption, abductions, and the killing of Gen Z protesters during the Finance Bill 2024 protests.
