CCTV footage has revealed how robbers made off with Ksh1.7 million belonging to a businessman from an apartment in Syokimau, Mlolongo.
The businessman was reportedly trailed from a bank along Mombasa Road to Syokimau, where the group broke into his car and stole the money, which was stored in a safe in the boot.

The driver is later seen leaving the car and walking towards the apartment, followed by another man.
Meanwhile, the man dressed in a white shirt and shoes is observed walking back to the car, monitoring the situation to avoid detection. After about two minutes, one of the men returns to the car and quickly leaves again.
The vehicle is then spotted moving a few meters before two men are spotted carrying an item believed to be the safe containing Ksh1.7 million before placing it in the boot. They all then get into the vehicle and drive off.
Businessman Recounts Moments Before Robbery
The businessman suspects that the gang followed him after he withdrew the money from a bank at Samia Business Park along Mombasa Road.
“Within ten minutes, those guys had already arrived here and entered the apartment, pretending they had some business. Some of them broke the car window. I had placed the money inside the boot, but it was in a very strong safe,” the businessman said.
One of the suspects, wearing a white shirt, was spotted on CCTV footage at the bank where the businessman went to withdrew the money.

The businessman recounted how the suspect, who was wearing a white shirt, entered the bank and sat next to him pretending to be a customer too.
“This person entered the bank and sat next to me. When his ticket number was called, he stepped outside and came back to get another ticket, apparently to buy more time,” he said.
“I completed my transaction, carefully secured the money, and noticed that he left shortly after me. I later realized that he had been waiting for me to finish my transactions all along.”
Police are conducting investigations into the robbery, but after two weeks, they are yet to trace the gang.
Preliminary findings revealed that the car captured in the CCTV footage had a fake registration number.
The gangs are believed to be targeting people withdrawing large amounts of money from banks.
