CCTV footage captured the harrowing moments a speeding car plowed into a man and a woman, sweeping them off their feet at the exit of Quiver Lounge in Kitengela.
In the footage seen by The Kenya Times, the duo walked out of the establishment while holding hands. The woman was donned in a black dress while the man was wearing shorts and a black T-shirt.
Suddenly, they seem alarmed by some movement behind them and turned their heads. However, in seconds, the speeding vehicle charged towards them and hit them.
While the lady is thrown off to the side from the impact, the man, was thrown onto the bonnet of the vehicle which rammed into other vehicles at the parking lot.
Alarmed by the incident, onlookers rushed to the scene to try and rescue the victims.
Preliminary reports indicated that the man lost his life as a result of the incident.

Kenyans Issue Warning Against Drunk Driving After Quiver Incident
Although it is not yet clear whether the driver of the vehicle was drunk, Kenyans have called on other citizens to exercise responsible drinking.
Others called on entertainment joints to either have bigger parking spaces or do away with them completely and customers to use Taxi’s when they visit.
“At this point clubs should be at spaces with no parking lot at all just drop off points, because what are people doing with cars in a drinking den?” Pouche, a user on X questioned.
“Another reason why such places should have footpaths for pedestrians only. Many families have Ended up losing loved ones due to such recklessness,” Sholla Ard stated.
The establishment was recently in the limelight over allegations of sexual harassment made by a former staffer.

Latest NTSA Statistics on Accidents
The latest data from the National Transport and Safety Authority (NTSA) indicate that between January 1 to April 30, 2024, road accidents have claimed 1554 lives, with pedestrians being ranked as the most vulnerable road users.
Additionally, a total number 574 fatalities from the accidents were pedestrians, with motorcyclists following closely at 356 and passengers at 329.
On the other hand, at least 134 drivers have died in the first four months of 2024 while pillion passengers recorded 129 deaths.
According to NTSA, March was the deadliest recording 403 road fatalities followed by the month of April with 388 deaths.
