Texas Governor Greg Abbott has announced the signing of a new law that bans people from China, Russia, Iran and North Korea from buying or owning land in Texas.
In their X account, US Homeland Security News, who update on the US National Security, Border Security and News from DC, announced the ban.
“Texas Governor Greg Abbott announces he will now sign a new law that bans people from China, Russia, Iran and North Korea from buying or owning land in Texas. God bless Texas,” the crackdown was announced.
Texas Governor explains the reasons for the new law
The legislation aims to prevent foreign entities, especially those linked to governments deemed hostile by the U.S. intelligence community, from acquiring land near sensitive sites such as military bases, which could pose risks to state and national security.

It was also prompted by incidents like a Chinese company with ties to the Chinese Communist Party purchasing 140,000 acres near Laughlin Air Force Base in Val Verde County
This raises alarms about potential espionage or strategic land control.
Online reactions to the law
The post evoked different reactions from the state members.
“Good, since they never should have been able to buy land to begin with. It’s the dumbest thing ever,” an X user noted.
Other comments criticised the governor’s move, saying there were other more important things to be addressed than what he is focusing on.
@urtruth_mytruth terms the governors’ idea as discriminatory laws, and he wonders how he is going to get around them.
“Just wondering how he is going to get around anti-discrimination laws,” he says.

A concern of Israel having been banned from Israel also raises an eyebrow, as @irirsmal07 thinks out loud that they will also take advantage of that, and they will occupy the areas.
“Knowing that Israel will eventually be banned from the Middle East, he’s making space for them,” he commented.
Russia, being one of the countries to be affected by the law, a user @nevohudonecar also makes his comment saying that Russia is not a state, but a territory entitled to Russians, and they don’t want to go to Texas, but to some other warm areas.
“Russia is a territory, not a state. The nation on this territory is called by the title “Russians”. But these Russians do not want to go to Texas. Russians want to go to Florida, California or wherever there is no snow and it is warm,” he says.
