An officer attached to the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) has passed away after being assaulted by a known person.
According to a police report dated March 22, the officer, Felix Kelian Kitosi was on duty near Kikuyu Police Station on March 16 when he was involved in a traffic road accident.
However, there were no injuries recorded as a result of the accident.
Later, an altercation occurred between the DCI officer and other known persons concerning the accident.
“He had been involved in a non-injury traffic accident within Kikuyu Market near Kikuyu Police Station on March 16, at about 0400hrs,” the police statement read in part.

DCI Officer Assault and Death
As per the police OB report, DCI officer Felix Kelian Kitosi had complained of abdominal pains resulting from the assault incident that followed the traffic accident.
He was then admitted to the Nairobi West hospital for treatment.
“Preliminary investigations reveal that he was assaulted by known persons after an altercation over the non-injury road traffic accident,” the report indicated.
The report was made by the officer’s brother Reinhard Kitosi at the Dagoretti police station following the death of the officer.
His body was taken to Umash funeral services mortuary along Mbagathi Way awaiting autopsy.
The Kenya Times can confirm that the family of Kitosi arrived at the mortuary on Saturday, March 23, to view the body.

Police Refuse to Help Officer After Shooting
In a separate incident in August 2023, CCTV footage showed police officers arriving at the scene of the shooting of the late DCI officer David Mayaka.
In the video, the officer was seen driving off without helping the officer despite pleas from his wife who was with him when they were attacked by gunmen.
The couple had stopped in the Hurlingham area to fix a puncture when three men on a motorcycle pulled up and shot them. Later, the DCI officer succumbed to the gunshot wounds.
