Five people lost their lives on Monday, June 6 when a train collided with a lorry that was crossing the railway tracks in Ruiru, Kiambu County.
Police report says that the lorry owned by a Chinese Manufacturing company was transporting laborers and was attempting to cross the tracks but miscalculated the speed and distance of the oncoming train.
Five passengers from the lorry tried to escape the imminent collision by jumping off the vehicle, but were knocked down by the train.

Kiambu County Police Commander Muchangi Kioi confirmed the incident saying that five people died on the spot, while 12 others are receiving medical attention after suffering serious injuries.
The horrific crash left the lorry’s driver cabin, as well as the rest of its body, completely crushed. Also, the number of people in the lorry at the time of the accident is yet to be uncovered as the crowd that gathered at the accident scene claimed more bodies were still trapped underneath the train.
