The Kenya Ports Authority (KPA) has announced revised Cross-Channel Ferry Charges, effective Friday, May 22, 2026.
In a notice dated May 22, KPA urged ferry users and members of the public to familiarize themselves with the updated charges set out in Clause 23 of its Tariff Book.
“The Authority wishes to inform ferry users and the general public that the revised Cross-Channel Ferry Charges will take effect from Friday, 22nd May 2026,” read part of the announcement.

KPA Unveils New Revised Ferry Charges
According to Clause 23 of the KPA Tariff Book, motorists will pay more to use the ferry due to increased charges.
The Channel Cross-Ferry Charges schedule, rates are charged per metre depending on the type and size of vehicle using the service.
Light vehicles such as motor cars attract Ksh180 per metre for those below 4.5 metres and Ksh225 per metre for vehicles between 4.6 and 6.0 metres.
CUVs and SUVs below 6.0 metres are charged Ksh225 per metre, while vans and pickup trucks are generally charged between Ksh350 and Ksh438 per metre depending on their category.
Motorcycles and handcarts are charged Ksh75, while three-wheeled vehicles (tuk-tuks) attract Ksh100.
Buses, minibuses and shuttles are charged Ksh900 per metre, while buses measuring between 9 and 11 metres are charged Ksh1,650 per metre.

Other Charges
Light trucks are charged Ksh438 to Ksh500 per metre, while medium trucks attract between Ksh750 and Ksh1,125 per metre depending on size.
Heavy trucks are charged between Ksh1,500 and Ksh1,875 per metre, while very heavy trucks ranging from 15 to over 17 metres are charged between Ksh1,875 and Ksh2,125 per metre.
Truck trailers attract higher charges, with empty trailers costing Ksh7,000 and loaded trailers Ksh7,950.
Tankers are charged Ksh750 per metre, while petrol cars and fuel-related trailers attract charges ranging from Ksh3,225 to Ksh8,325 depending on size and load.
KPA notes that abnormal loads attract a flat charge of KSh15,950, while any vehicle not specified in the schedule may be quoted by the Authority upon application.

Daily Port Entry Charges for Vehicles and Users
On the other hand, the annual Port Pass or Entry charges are set at different rates depending on the user and vehicle category.
An ordinary pass costs Ksh1,250 per calendar year, while a VIP pass costs Ksh3,000.
Motorbikes and scooters incur an annual fee of Ksh300, while saloon cars incur a fee of Ksh750. Pick-ups, SUVs, and CUVs are charged KSh 1,000 per year.
Taxis pay Ksh1,500 annually, while vans, canters, and minibuses are charged Ksh2,000. Lorries, tractors, cranes, and forklifts attract a higher annual fee of Ksh3,000.
For daily access, individuals are charged KSh100 per day. Motorbikes and scooters are charged Ksh300 daily, the same rate applied to saloon cars and station wagons.
Pick-ups, vans, SUVs, and CUVs are charged Ksh600 per day, while lorries, tractors, cranes, bulldozers, and other construction equipment are charged Ksh1,000 per day.
