KeNHA Announces Lucrative Emergency Tenders; How to Bid

The Kenya National Highways Authority (KeNHA) has invited bids from eligible contractors for Emergency Reinstatement Road Works at various locations across the country.

In a notice, the authority indicated that the tenders would be funded through the government development funds.

Further, the notice asked interested bidders to minimize physical visits to the KeNHA office and prioritize applying for the tenders online.

However, for the eligible contractors, the authority stated that they will engage in a Mandatory Pre-Tender Site Visit as specified in the tender notice. 

“The Authority hereby invites bids from eligible contractors for Emergency Reinstatement Works for the FY 2023-2024 to be funded through the Gok Development Funds. There shall be a Mandatory Pre-Tender Site Visit as specified in the detailed tender notice uploaded onto the KeNHA website,” indicated KeNHA.

KeNHA Details Qualifications and How to Bid 

KeNHA directed interested and qualified bidders to access the tender documents from its website at www.kenha.co.ke or through its PPIP portal at www.tenders.go.ke. 

Additionally, applicants were reminded that accessing the documents was free. The authority further asked bidders to get the documents from its offices during working hours in case they were unable to do so through the portal. 

However, accessing the documents from the Supply Chain Management Department offices of the offices will cost bidders Ksh1,000, submitted in form of a banker’s cheque. 

“A complete set of tender documents may be obtained by interested tenderers from the Kenya National Highways Authority website: www.kenha.co.ke or PPIP portal: www.tenders.go.ke free of charge or from KeNHA Offices,

“Supply Chain Management Department during normal working hours upon payment of non-refundable fee of Ksh1,000.00 (Kenya Shillings One Thousand only) in form of a banker’s cheque payable to Kenya National Highways Authority,” added the authority.

All interested bidders will be required to continually check the Kenya National Highways Authority website for any additions information or clarifications that may arise before submission date.

Also, the authority set the closing date for biding on June 13, 2024, at 11.00 am. 

“The tender Closing/Opening date will be on 13th June 2024 at 11.00 A.M. at KeNHA Headquarters, Barabara Plaza, Jomo Kenyatta International Airport (JKIA), Nairobi, Off Mazao Road, Block C – 2nd Floor Board Room” KeNHA stated.

Recent Emergency Works

The authority has been undertaking various emergency repairs across the country following the destruction of roads caused by heavy rainfall and floods.

The repairs have resulted in the closure of major highways and roads including the Nakuru – Eldoret Road which was closed at Nabkoi Junction between Tuesday, 14th to Wednesday, 15th May 2024.

“The Kenya National Highways Authority regrets to inform the public that there will be traffic interruption at Nabkoi Junction along the Nakuru – Eldoret (A8) Road. This disruption will be from Tuesday, 14th to Wednesday, 15th May 2024,” stated KeNHA.

Earlier on May 9, the authority closed down a section of Nairobi bound lanes along Kenol – Sagana (A2) road as a result of debris falling from back slope of the road section at Mugetho area.
