The Kenya Revenue Authority (KRA) has warned taxpayers against delaying the filing of their 2025 Income Tax Returns, while ruling out any extension of the statutory June 30 deadline.
In a statement issued on Saturday, June 27, the Authority urged all taxpayers who have yet to submit their returns to do so immediately, saying the filing window will close at midnight on Tuesday, June 30, with no grace period.
KRA Rules Out Extension for 2025 Tax Returns Filing Deadline
According to the authority, there will be no extension of the filing deadline, and anyone who fails to submit their returns on time will face penalties and may also be subjected to default tax assessments.
“KRA wishes to remind taxpayers that there will be no extension of the filing deadline. All returns must be submitted on or before 30th June 2026, in accordance with the law. Taxpayers who fail to file by the deadline will be liable to the applicable penalties and may also be subject to default assessments,” stated the authority.

KRA said filing tax returns goes beyond a legal requirement, noting that it also supports national development by promoting transparency, strengthening the tax system, and helping fund essential public services.
To ease the process, the Authority said taxpayers can file returns through several digital options, including the iTax portal, eCitizen, WhatsApp support on 0711 099 999, and the USSD code 2225#.
The authority added that it has extended working hours across its support channels, such as the contact centre, Huduma Centres, service centres, social media platforms, and Ushuru Mashinani partners to assist taxpayers before the deadline.
Those needing help have been advised to contact the KRA Contact Centre via 0204 999 999 or 0711 099 999, email [email protected], reach out on official social media pages, or visit the nearest KRA office.
The tax authority also urged taxpayers to file early, warning that last-minute submissions could face delays due to high traffic on digital platforms.
“The Authority appreciates the millions of taxpayers who have already met their obligation by filing their returns and encourages those who are yet to do so to avoid waiting until the last minute,” KRA said.

In a response shared on X, the Authority said the ongoing password reset problems are being caused by temporary network disruptions. The authority advised affected users to try again after some time or switch to a different internet browser.
“We have received your concern. Please note the issue is due to network fluctuations. Kindly try again later or use another browser,” KRA Care stated.
The response followed reports from users who said they were unable to obtain one-time passwords (OTPs), complete the reset process, or successfully update their login details.
