Last Moments of College Student Killed by Ex-Boyfriend

A first-year student at Kisii Polytechnic was found dead in her rental house by the police on the evening of Thursday, November 09.

Accounts by police indicated that Stephen, a 25-year-old man who is said to be her ex-boyfriend is the main suspect of the murder. 

Detectives investigating the matter noted that the student died from several knife stabs in her neck. 

Further, the main suspect is said to have travelled from Kuria to Kisii to visit her on Thursday before a fight broke out in the house. It was reported that the two began quarrelling before the police were alerted.

According to one of the officers in charge of the investigation, an anonymous person called the police to inform them of students from Kisii college fighting.

“I want to confirm that yesterday at 18:00 hours I received a call from an unidentified person who reported that in one of the houses within Jogoo estate there were some young person’s fighting students from Kisii Polytechnic College,” the officer said in part. 

Further, although the police were dispatched immediately, they found the lady already dead.

“Police found the body lying on the floor inside the house where that lady resided,” the police commander added.

Notably, the police noted that they discovered the weapon used to commit the murder at the scene.

Mob Justice

Additionally, the officer noted that the young man was subjected to mob justice but was however rescued sustaining minor injuries and is currently under police custody.

“After the young man was taken to hospital, he was discharged and is currently in police cell awaiting to be arraigned before court,” the officer added.

The body is at the Kisii Training and referral hospital mortuary awaiting postmortem.

Sadly, the lady was only 22 years old when she met her demise, and it is reported that she has left behind a 9-month-old child.

Other Murder Cases 

In the recent past, students have reportedly been murdered either by fellow comrades or by people they have been in relationships with.

The case of a third-year student in Rongo University who was arrested on November 2 in connection with the murder of Abel Pchumba, is the recent case of murder in institutions of higher learning.

As per multiple reports, the third-year student stabbed the slain boy after a dispute while drinking earlier in the week. 

Amid the clash, the suspect allegedly stabbed the boy in the stomach – leaving him in critical condition and with multiple stab wounds.
