A form three student at Maseno school allegedly committed suicide by jumping from the second floor of a dormitory.
Confirming the incident, Kisumu West area OCPD David Nyabuto said the student died while receiving treatment.
“At around 4:00 am, the deputy principal received information from one student that while other students were about to wake up
“He heard a loud thud of something falling from the second floor to the ground next to a window where his bed is located,” Nyabuto said.
At this point, the student rushed to check and noticed that a fellow student had fallen
He called other students to help him save the life of their colleague before reporting to the deputy principal.
The deceased was rushed to Agha Khan hospital, where he succumbed to the severe head injuries he sustained.
A suicide note was recovered from the student’s desk.
Police have not revealed if the suicide note indicated the reasons behind the student taking his own life
In the suicide note the deceased asked his closest friend and a classmate to take possession of his belongings.
The deceased’s body has been preserved at Agha Khan mortuary, awaiting postmortem.
