John Mbadi while speaking during an interview at a local TV station stated that there is a mismatch in the docket placement of the CS nominees by President William Ruto.
The ODM chairman gave an example of the nominated Cabinet Secretary for the East African Community, Arid and Semi-Arid Lands and Regional Development Miano Rebecca.
“You have picked a lady who many of us have agreed has done a good job at the geothermal, Miano Rebecca, then you take her to the East African community. ” Mbadi stated.
Moreover, Mbadi stated that the East African community docket is just as important, but Miano would have best fit the Energy and petroleum docket.
“Why couldn’t you take this lady to be in charge of energy where she has gained experience and expertise over the years,” he noted.
President William Ruto nominated Davis Chirchir to the Energy docket, which he served before being removed. According to Mbadi, Kenyans do not remember that Chirchir was in that docket before because he never left a mark.
“So why are you returning him to the same ministry,” he posed.
Furthermore, Chirchir served as the Energy and petroleum CS in former President Uhuru Kenyatta’s government from 2013 to 2015.
Nonetheless, Mbadi agreed that some of the nominees were good, while mentioning Treasury Cabinet secretary nominee Njuguna Ndung`u.
According to the ODM chairman, Njuguna has the intellectual capacity for the job though his history is questionable. He further added that some of President Ruto’s nominees faced integrity issues.

While speaking about integrity, Mbadi singled out Agriculture CS nominee Mithika Linturi, saying he was appointed when he had an active case in court.
Aisha Jumwa who is the nominee to the Gender docket, was also roped in in Mbadi`s list.
However, the corruption charges against Jumwa were dropped by DPP recently, whereas the sexual assault case against Linturi was also dropped after the matter was settled out of court.
