Renowned lawyer Miguna Miguna has taken legal action against Kapseret Member of Parliament (MP) Oscar Sudi over remarks made about him in a video posted on Sudi’s X account.
In a demand letter dated August 13, Miguna, through his lawyers, accused Sudi of publishing false and defamatory statements about him on July 29 and July 30, 2024.
The letter claims that Sudi, as a public official, acted with actual malice, knowing the statements were false or with reckless disregard for their truth.
“On July 29, 2024, July 30, 2024, and on diverse dates and times through your X (formerly Twitter) account (@HonOscarSudi) which enjoys a very large following all over the world being a public official, published or caused to be published, false and defamatory words in both video and text, about our client,” read the letter in part.
“You published the impugned words and statements with actual malice and malicious innuendo when you knew or ought to have known that they were false and/or you published them with reckless disregard as to their truth or falsity.”
Furthermore, Miguna demands accountability for the alleged libel, emphasizing the serious impact of Sudi’s comments on his reputation.
What Sudi Said About Miguna in the Viral Video
In the viral video referenced in the lawsuit, Oscar Sudi leveled accusations against the vocal lawyer accusing him of inciting the youth to cause violence and chaos.

Sudi expressed his disapproval of Miguna’s actions terming them as “uncouth’ and unfit in the country’s modern era.
He specifically pointed out remarks made by Miguna in an X Space discussion, expressing shock over his utterances on the platform.
“I was shocked to hear such a grown man like you, aged over 70 years inciting the Gen Zs… you come to an X space to spew words that cause confusion,” the Kapseret legislator noted.
Sudi Accuses Miguna of Hijacking the Gen Z Movement
Sudi acknowledged that the Gen Z-led movement started very well stating that initially he even supported it himself.
He said that the movement served as proof that the youth were waking up and becoming aware of the country’s political issues.

Sudi however, in his statement accused Miguna along with renowned activist, Boniface Mwangi of hijacking the youth led movement and made it their own.
“I agree with you on one point that the Gen Z movement started very well, I even supported it myself because it was proof that the youth had started waking up,” he said.
Miguna, in his response, fired back at Sudi labeling him an “illiterate” and asserting that he and others would hold him accountable for his actions.
