Transport Cabinet Secretary Kipchumba Murkomen, clarified his remarks on Rwanda’s president Paul Kagame, implying that he was a dictator who does not respect the rule of law.
Murkomen had on December 18, 2023, called out the Rwandan leader, describing his leadership as an autocracy.
In a media interview, Murkomen said it was needless to compare the two countries, since Rwanda is “even smaller than Kajiado county.”
“Rwanda is not like Kenya. Rwanda is an autocracy and there whatever the President says is the law,” said Murkomen.

Online Outrage
However, his remarks sparked outrage, with Lawyer Ahmednasir Abdullahi demanding that the government organizes workshops for officials to educate them on basic tenets of international relations.
According to the city lawyer, the CS made disparaging remarks about President Kagame without provocation, and his words were likely to cause friction between Kenya and Rwanda.
