Police in Nairobi are in pursuit of a gang who pose like police officers before robbing innocent citizens in the city.
According to a report, one of the gang’s victims was in Nairobi’s River Road area on Wednesday afternoon, waiting for a matatu to his home in Kimende when the men in police uniform approached him.
Stanley Kiarie said the three told him they were police officers and that he was under arrest for possessing bhang.
He said they were in uniforms, and they handcuffed him.

They then inserted pieces of bhang into his pockets and told him to follow them.
The victim told police at Lari police station that the said officers asked for Ksh20,000 for his release even after he denied ever smoking and possessing the narcotics.
He said they ransacked his pockets and grabbed Ksh2,000 that was there before forcing him to withdraw the Sh6,000 that was in his mobile phone.
The withdrawal was done by an agent he can identify in the area.
The group handed him Sh500 for his fare home.
He reported the matter at Lari but was referred back to Nairobi where the incident happened.
Police said they are investigating the incident.
