Raila Odinga’s sister, Carolyne Akinyi Walkowa was one of the women nominated for the ambassadorial positions by President William Ruto on March,8, 2024.
Akinyi is the only child to Raila’s Father, Jaramogi Odinga’s second wife Gaudecia Adeya.
Jaramogi had four wives. Others are Mary Juma, Susan Agik and Betty Adongo.
She was appointed as the Deputy Head of Mission of Los Angeles in United States of America.
In a move to celebrate and recognize the contribution of women in the leadership of Kenya, President Ruto appointed 10 new female ambassadors and six deputy ambassadors to different parts of the world.
“Today morning, as part of the celebration of International Women’s Day, I have appointed 10 more women as ambassadors in different parts of the world.
“And another six deputy ambassadors in recognition of the contribution of women to the leadership of our nation,” the president announced.
