Jubilee Party Vice-chair David Murathe has upheld that the Sh60 million transaction between him and Cyrus Jirongo was debt repayment.
Murathe further claimed that the whole exercise was harassment used to divert Kenyans’ attention from the genuine issues affecting the country.
“It is political harassment and diversionary tactics. When they don’t know how to deal with challenges facing the country, they look for things to divert,” he stated.
Moreover, Murathe, former Lugari MP Cyrus Jirongo, and Cotu secretary general Francis Atwoli were on Thursday, November 3 summoned by Ethics and Anti-Corruption Commission (EACC) over an inquiry into the Sh200 million land saga in Nairobi.

The Jubilee party vice-chairperson arrived at EACC offices at 3 pm and went in for a grilling. During the process, Murathe explained that he was not involved in any illegality and maintained that he was paid money owed to him.
“I’m not involved in what the rest were doing with the county. What I know is Jirongo owed me money and I was paid. Where he got it from is none of my business,” he added.
Additionally, Murathe said he received Sh25million in two instalments of Sh18million and Sh7 million from his advocates on or about July 23, 2020.
Furthermore, the former Gatanga Mp threatened to sue EACC on the issue, saying it was his right and was entitled to do so.
