Meru Governor Kawira Mwangaza has told Members of County Assembly (MCAs) not to intimidate her into stealing.
Speaking at the County headquarters, Kawira said she will only follow procedures in dealing with the ward representatives.
She is accusing the MCA’s of extortion and blackmail
Kawira says she is ready to respond to any questions from the ward representatives and finance their projects as long as it is well documented.

The Governor added that she will not accept any unwritten deals with the County Assembly, since they might deny it.
“We have met at my home for dinner and agreed on the ward fund but you have denied it. We met in Mombasa, you denied.

“Now come with something that I can present before people, cabinet and other officers,” she said.
She added “We must follow the law, even if you make numerous allegations, Mama’s government is alert.
“I am not ready to pocket even a single coin that belongs to Mwananchi. You will not intimidate me into being a thief,” Kawira said.
The first term Governor insists that she will disburse funds as long as there are documents and procedures on the funds required by MCAs and the people that will be held responsible.
Meru MCA’s are accusing Kawira of being unavailable and rejecting requests of holding discussions with them and disregarding their demands.
Last week,the county legislators dared the Governor by walking out as she was making her maiden state of the county address.
The county boss is accusing the county assembly of trying to intimidate her into doing things done by past regimes.
