A one-year-old baby was found abandoned outside a children’s home in Keumbu, Kisii County on Sunday October 2.
According to the staff at the children’s home, the baby was well wrapped and placed next to a travelling bag.
The children’s home director Rev. Onchari confirmed the incident expressing concern over the rising cases of children being abandoned in the area.
“It is true that a child was this morning found abandoned at our gates. Next to the child was a bag full of baby clothes,”
“Our facility has received at least 10 abandoned children in the past one month, in this area alone,” said Rev Onchari.
Rev Onchari has appealed to the police to expeditiously investigate the matter – and help trace parents of the 10 children.
The baby was taken to Keumbu police station where a report was made. She was later admitted to the Children’s home.
