Drama ensued at a liquor store in Roysambu after a police officer stationed at Kasarani began to wail, during an arrest operation by detectives from the Ethics and Anti-Corruption Commission – EACC.
Locals recorded videos of the officer screaming his lungs out while holding on to the railings of the liquor store.
While he sounded like he was in pain, he seemed to be refusing to be walked out by other officers to a waiting van that was packed outside,
The commotion attracted the attention of local who quickly gathered outside the liquor store to determine what was happening.
After a long scuffle, the other officers held on to Mbugua’s feet and body and managed to get him off the railings and into the van that was waiting outside.
The van sped off while the office continued to scream.

EACC Explaina the Incident
Shortly after the video was circulated online, the Ethics and Anti-Corruption Commission (EACC) issued a statement identifying the officer.
Further, EACC indicated that the police began wailing after he was told that he was under arrest.
Mbugua was being arrested for demanding a Ksh30,000 bribe from a complainant, in order to release two men who had been arrested and detained at the police station the previous day.
“He demanded Ksh30,000 from the complainant with the intent that, in consequence, he would release two brothers he had arrested and detained at the Police Station from the previous day,
“For an unknown offence, without booking them in the Occurrence Book (OB),” the statement from EACC read in part.

How the Commission Managed to Arrest the Officer
According to EACC, they received a complaint on Friday, January 26, and conducted investigations leading to the officer’s arrest after receiving the demanded amount.
“During the arrest, scuffle ensued after the police started wailing uncontrollably when the EACC detectives informed him that he was under arrest.
“Attempts by the wailing suspect to resist arrest were unsuccessful. He was escorted to Kilimani Police Station where he is currently detained pending further processing today at EACC Integrity Centre Police Station,” explained the commission.
Also, the statement noted that detectives had since confiscated his pistol and ammunition which was later handed over to the OCS EACC Police Station.
