Raymond Omollo, the Principal Secretary (PS) for the State Department for Internal Security and National Administration, has warned Homabay Governor Gladys Wanga that “her days are numbered,” after she claimed that Omollo undermined ODM’s position during the just concluded Kasipul by-election.
The conflict between Wanga and PS Omollo began during the Kasipul Constituency by-election, where Governor Gladys Wanga accused Interior Principal Secretary (PS) Raymond Omollo of backing independent candidate Philip Aroko against ODM’s Boyd Were.
Wanga, who is ODM’s national chairperson, views Omollo’s alleged involvement as a breach of the ODM-UDA broad-based arrangement.
PS Omollo Responds
PS Omollo has responded to Wanga’s claims, claiming that Wanga is looking to continue a politics of conmanship.
“The truth is, Gladys Wanga your days are numbered. You brought your candidate, and we brought our candidate and the people of Kasipul made their wise choice. But do not bring us your politics of selling fear and conmanship.”
PS Omollo added that Governor Gladys Wanga is going after those who do not share the same political views, especially those who align with President William Ruto.
“You want to abuse and disrespect leaders who are trying to ensure the people are given the needs they ask for. When the President is building schools and hospitals in the area, you come and shake his hand and smile about the projects. When the country is silent, you go behind his back and mobilise people to come up with issues that aim to disrupt the government and its projects.”
Trail of Failure
PS Omollo added that the government is tired of politicians who are always looking to oppose the government instead of helping to build the nation.
“There are people who have been lying to the Luo Nation for many years, and they now believe that they have brainwashed us to believe their fake promises. I would like Governor Gladys Wanga to come and show the people of Homa Bay all the things that she has done for them and compare it to all that President Ruto has done for his people. We do not even have to explain anything any further.”
Omollo has seen massive grassroots support since the beginning of the feud with Governor Gladys Wanga.
Thousands of women in Kisumu took to the streets to defend Interior PS Raymond Omollo, accusing Homa Bay Governor Gladys Wanga of political intimidation.
The protesters praised Omollo for his community-driven initiatives, including housing projects for vulnerable families, school fees support for needy students, and youth empowerment programs that provide tuk-tuks and motorcycles for income generation.

They dismissed Wanga’s allegations of election interference as baseless, insisting Omollo’s focus has been on development, not politics.
Escalating Drama in Homa Bay
Governor Gladys Wanga has tightened her grip on Homa Bay County amid growing political tension.
Following the Kasipul by-election fallout, Wanga locked her deputy, Oyugi Magwanga, out of office and reshuffled key positions in the County Executive Committee, in what insiders describe as a bid to consolidate power.
Wanga also relieved Magwanga of his duty as the County Executive Committee Member in charge of Agriculture, Irrigation, and Livestock Development.

The moves have sparked speculation of deepening cracks within ODM’s local leadership, with critics accusing Wanga of sidelining allies perceived as disloyal.
The recent actions have turned Homa Bay into the central point of a political storm that could reshape Nyanza’s power dynamics.
