The Entebbe Municipality has put fresh paint over the Rainbow colored play-tower in the children’s park. The move was sparked by a string of public uproar, questioning the artists’ intention and the motive behind the combination of colors widely associated with the LGBTQ community in the children’s play park.
The local administration promptly acted to repaint the tower and change the combination of colors to calm the enraged parents and community at large.

The municipality partnered with a local organization to paint and renovate the park in a bid to refurbish and give it a new look. However, the colors the children associated with rain for the longest time did not settle well with the community. For years, the children of Uganda have only understood the rainbow as a beautiful arch of colors; biblically, it reflects the beauty and majesty of God”. It is unfortunate that specific movements have decided to use the rainbow to represent and reflect certain acts that go against the norms of the people of Uganda,” said fabric Brad Rulinda the town’s Mayor.

concerned parents questioned the motive of the artists and the choice of colors they associated with Satanism and homosexuality. According to Emmanuel Mugabe, a representative from the National Parents Association of Uganda, this was a move to manipulate children’s minds and push the homosexual agenda in the region. He further applauded the municipality for repainting the tower and removing the rainbow colors, as the association had plans to remove it.
The move comes one month after the Ugandan government set up a committee to probe the alleged promotion of lesbian, gay, and transgender rights in high schools. Uganda is predominantly Christian and known for its strict anti-homosexuality policies. Gay, bisexual, transgender, and lesbian persons undergo active discrimination, and legal challenges since both female and male homosexual activities are banned and are illegal.

While parents highly welcomed the move, some netizens disagreed. “can’t we just appreciate the beautiful colors anymore?” asked one under the comment section. “You are all overthinking this; let colors be just that, colors,” added another.
