President William Ruto has flown out of the country for Addis Ababa, Ethiopia for the 7th African Union Summit of Heads of State and Government.
State House Spokesperson Hussein Mohammed made the announcement indicating that at the summit, Ruto will speak on the education inequalities that left 98 million children in Africa without access to schooling.
Further, Hussein noted that the head of state will also highlight the initiatives made by Africa in mitigating climate crisis.
“The theme of the summit is on building resilient education systems for Africa’s 21st-century human capital.
“In his capacity as the chair of the Committee of African Heads of State and Government on Climate Change (CAHOSCC), the President will also deliver a report on the strides the continent has made in mitigating the climate crisis,” the statement read in part.
Other Roles Ruto Will Play at the Summit
Additionally, the spokesperson said that some of the detailed in the report that Ruto will be giving as the chair of the Committee of African Heads of State and Government on Climate Change (CAHOSCC) will include initiatives made my Kenya in mitigating climate change.
Also, he will be participating in a mini-East African Community Summit that will focus on conflict in Kenya.

“This includes the Nairobi Declaration, agreed upon during the first-ever Africa Climate Summit in Nairobi last September. The document is Africa’s authoritative blueprint for addressing the climate change crisis and proposes reform of the global financial system as well as the Multilateral Development Banks.
“The Head of State will also participate in a mini-East African Community Summit focusing on the situation in the Democratic Republic of Congo and other regional concerns. Additionally, he will hold meetings with fellow Heads of State, heads of international agencies, and business leaders,” he added.
Mudavadi Attends African Summit in Ethiopia
Ruto will be joining Prime Cabinet Secretary (PCS) and Cabinet Secretary for Foreign and Diaspora Affairs, Musalia Mudavadi, who on February 14 announced that he represented Kenya at the 44th Ordinary Session of the Executive Council of the African Union (AU) in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia.
He affirmed that citizens freely report any allegations of police impunity to the Independent Policing Oversight Authority (IPOA).
“I emphasized our government’s unwavering commitment to supporting civilian oversight of police work and ensuring zero tolerance to brutality and excessive force.
Notably, I highlighted the crucial role of IPOA, mandated by parliament to ensure accountabilities for all incidents,” Mudavadi stated.
