The controversial shooting of Felix Orinda better known as Dj Evolve popped up in the ongoing row between Nairobi Governor Johnson Sakaja and Embakasi East Member of Parliament Babu Owino on Monday, September 18.
In a statement, Babu, who was acquitted from the charges facing him in DJ Evolve’s case, challenged Sakaja to share videos of school children feeding under his flagship Dishi na County project.

However, the Nairobi Governor replied with file footage showing Dj Evolve and one of his kin lamenting about the near-tragic incident that left him battling for his life.
When it was Babu’s time to fire back, he brought out a previous incident where the Nairobi Governor was arrested for flouting curfew rules during the Covid-19 lockdown.

Notably, Nairobi Senior Magistrate Benard Ochoi ruled in August that the court could not link Babu Owino to the shooting and hence acquitted him in the misuse of firearm charges.
The jabs triggered mixed reactions with Kenyans including former Nairobi Governor Mike Sonko weighing in on the feud between the two politicians.

“A very hard and dangerous tackle but the referee waves play on,” Sonko replied to one of the statements made.
Dishi na County politics
Earlier in the day, Babu Owino reignited the row that started last week with a video of a woman claiming that pupils at Tumaini Primary School in Nairobi were forced to go hungry after the Dishi na County program failed to deliver food.

Babu cited the video calling out Sakaja for what he called as “miserable failure”.
“The School Feeding Scandal by the Corrupt Sakaja has failed miserably. It is 3pm and still no food delivered to kids who did not carry lunch hoping to get food in school,” Babu claimed.
However, Governor Sakaja dispelled the claims with a video of the headteacher of the said school.
He described Babu’s claims as an attempt to use children to advance his political ambitions.

“A few people are against our feeding program for nefarious reasons. Resorting to propaganda won’t work. Using children for politics won’t work,” Sakaja noted.

The feud between them lasted for days with both politicians exchanging words and banters.
Despite declining to declare his aspirations for the Nairobi Gubernatorial seat, Babu hinted at going for a bigger post once his second term as Embakasi East MP ends in 2027.
