Several people are feared dead following a fatal road accident involving a Tahmeed bus and a Naekana Shuttle, a 19-seater Toyota Hiace.
The accident occurred at around 11 p.m. on the night of January 2 at Konza City, Machakos County.
Photos Seen by The Kenya Times, showed the Naekana Shuttle extensively damaged, with its front section completely crushed, the windscreen shattered and the roof caved in, pointing to a high-impact collision.
The vehicle had veered off the road, with twisted metal and torn doors visible.
Several bystanders were seen standing near the wreckage.
On the other hand, the Tahmeed Bus was seen off the roadway, resting on uneven ground, with visible damage to the front section of the bus.
The impact of the accident appeared to have affected the driver’s side of the bus, consistent with damage sustained during the collision with the Naekana Shuttle.
An urgent appeal was issued to Machakos County Government ambulances and any nearby emergency responders to rush to the scene to support rescue and medical operations.
Later, the Machakos County emergency response teams were dispatched to assist in rescuing the injured and ferrying them to hospital for treatment.
Authorities are yet to release an official statement on the exact number of fatalities and injuries during the accident.
On November 13, a Tahmeed bus has been involved in an accident along the Nairobi-Mombasa Highway, leaving several passengers injured.
This follows another incident on November 9, when a Tahmeed bus crashed at Nairobi’s Nyayo Roundabout.
Several passengers were also injured, with some reportedly sustaining injuries to the chest, head, and legs.
