Teso North DCI Officer Found Dead in His Home, Police Probe Death

Corporal Humphrey Mureithi was found dead in his house by colleagues on Tuesday, May 31 afternoon in Busia County.

Police in Teso North, Busia County, have launched an investigation into the death of this officer who was attached to the Directorate of Criminal Investigations.

Teso North sub county police commander David Muange while confirming the incident stated that Mureithi was to report on duty on Tuesday, May 31 but failed to do so. Therefore, his colleagues drove to his home next to Amagoro Primary School to find out why he did not show up to work only to find him dead.

 “The other officers had been calling him in the morning but all the calls went unanswered, they drove to his residence and tried calling him again at the door step but they received no answer yet the house was locked from inside. We had to cut the door to get access to the house only to find him on the bed dead.” Muange said.

According to the officers’ report, the corporal was found dead and naked in his bed.

The officer’s lifeless body was moved to Life Care Hospital Mortuary in Bungoma.
