A former Special Air Service (SAS) soldier, renowned for his heroic efforts in rescuing hostages during a terrorist attack in Nairobi, has been recruited by incoming United States (US) President Donald Trump.Â
The 48-year-old soldier, Christian Craighead, has been selected to serve as part of his elite personal security team.
Craighead earned global praise for leading the operation that freed British and American hotel guests from al-Shabaab militants during the 2019 DusitD2 hotel siege in Nairobi.
Following the appointment, he will play a critical security role in Trump’s upcoming inauguration in Washington, D.C, on January 20, 2025.

Key Responsibilities Entrusted to the DusitD2 Cop
The Mail on Sunday, January 12, reported that Craighead has been entrusted with key responsibilities, including reconnaissance and advance security planning for public appearances.
His appointment comes after Trump expressed admiration for his skills, noting that Craighead’s keen perception, or “eagle eyes,” would have likely challenged the rooftop sniper attack Trump survived in Pennsylvania in July 2024.Â
Further, a family friend revealed that Trump personally reached out to Craighead following the Nairobi attack, praising his bravery.
The two have remained in contact ever since.
Also, Craighead is reported to have built a friendship with Donald Trump Jr. and his former partner, Kimberly Guilfoyle, after spending time with them in Miami.

Attack on Trump
On Sunday, September 15, 2024, multiple gunshots were fired as former President Donald Trump departed his golf club in West Palm Beach, Florida.
Authorities identified and arrested 58-year-old Ryan Wesley Routh as the suspect linked to the assassination attempt.
According to initial reports, Routh was allegedly fired upon by U.S. Secret Service agents after gunfire erupted near the golf course where Trump was playing.
The attempt came just two months after Trump sustained injuries during a separate assassination attempt at a rally in Butler, Pennsylvania, in July.Â
