The United Democratic Alliance (UDA) secured a clean sweep in all by-elections held on February 26, 2026.
During the polls held to fill vacant seats in four counties, UDA won the Isiolo South Member of Parliament seat, as well as the West Kabras, Muminji, and Evurore Members of County Assembly (MCA) positions.
In Isiolo South, Tubi Mohammed Tubi won the Isiolo South Constituency seat with 7,352 votes, ahead of his sister Bina Tubi, who came in a distant second with 634 votes.
Elsewhere in Kakamega County, Elphas Shalakha was elected the MCA for West Kabras Ward in Malava Constituency after garnering 3,317 votes. Bramwel Wasike of the Democracy for Citizens Party (DCP) came in second in the race for the West Kabras Ward seat with 2,361 votes.
The ruling party’s winning streak was further extended in Embu County, where Duncan Muratia Nyaga secured the Member of County Assembly position for Evurore Ward, Mbeere North Constituency. Muratia clinched the seat with 7,853 votes.
Meanwhile, Peterson Njeru won the Member of County Assembly seat for Muminji Ward, also in Mbeere North Constituency, Embu County, with 3,207 votes.
The results registered in Thursday’s mini polls come months after UDA scored major wins against opposition parties in 2025.
In the November 2025 by-elections, UDA clinched the Baringo Senate seat through Kiprono Chemitei, the Mbeere North parliamentary seat through Leo Wamuthende, the Malava parliamentary seat through David Ndakwa, and the Banisa parliamentary seat through Ahmed Maalim Hassan Alio.
UDA Sends Congratulatory Messages
The party stated that the victory reaffirms the people’s confidence in its agenda of transformation and inclusive development. It added that the win reflects UDA’s strong grassroots mobilization network.
UDA wished the elected leaders well as they embark on their journey to serve the people.
“Surely UDA is a ruling party. Thank you, all our members and supporters, for your solidarity, faith and unshakable loyalty to United Democratic Alliance (UDA),” UDA said.
IEBC Briefs on the By-Elections
In an update on Thursday, February 26, evening, the Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission (IEBC) thanked voters in the four by-election areas for turning out to vote.
The Commission noted that only minimal incidents were reported, and any that occurred were promptly resolved.
Voting closed at all polling stations at 5:00 A.M, and the counting of ballots began immediately thereafter.
Presiding Officers opened the ballot boxes in full view of agents, observers, and the media. Ballots were counted, and results tabulated transparently at the polling stations.
To enhance transparency, agents were allowed to photograph the official results forms, and copies of the results forms were displayed publicly at each station.

Returning Officers received results from all polling stations, verified and tallied the figures, and announced constituency-level results.
Winners were formally declared in the presence of agents and accredited stakeholders.
They added that the results announced at the polling stations were declared as final.

Tallying Centers
According to the commission, access to tallying centers was restricted to accredited persons with valid identification and badges.
The electoral body urged senior elected and party leaders who wished to observe the process to respect the integrity of the centers and cooperate fully with officials and security personnel.
The Commission warned that any actions that could disrupt or delay tallying and declaration of results were strongly discouraged.
