Uhuru Man Reveals the Tribe They Will Back for President in 2027

The Jubilee Party led by former President Uhuru Kenyatta will not support a politician from the Mt. Kenya region for president in 2027.

Speaking on January 16, Jubilee Secretary Jeremiah Kioni said politicians allied to President William Ruto have been hinting that all the other regions will unite against Mt. Kenya in the next polls.

Kioni said the party would support a candidate outside the region to fight this narrative.

“Our candidate for Jubilee will be a non-mountain candidate so that I will be able to deal with the 41 against 1 statement,” Kioni said.

He said the party is keen to allow a politician from another part of the country to lead the nation.

Kioni explained that the region has control of about 7 million votes. This means that any person it supports will either win or force a second round of election.

However, he stated that it is time for the region to give way for a politician from a small community to become president.

“We want to ensure that the Mountain does not become the only block that is offering a presidential candidate,” he said.

“I am asking Mt. Kenya residents to stay aside so that we look for someone who can lead the country from another smaller community.”

Kioni said the party will campaign for the politicians and help him win the votes from the region.

What’s Different with 2022?

He said the region was divided between President Ruto and Azimio leader Raila Odinga in 2022 elections.

“We had Raila and Ruto, but the difference is we don’t want to split our votes. Ruto won votes from the region since they didn’t understand us,” he said.

Jubilee Party Relationship with Kalonzo & Wamalwa

Kioni said the opposition already has potential candidates like Kalonzo Musyoka and Eugene Wamalwa.

However, he revealed that the Jubilee Party will also have a non-Kikuyu candidate in the race.

“We are also looking for new faces that have not been presidential candidates. Our thinking is that we have candidate who is non-Kikuyu,” he said.

Kioni said this will be different from Uhuru’s support to Raila in 2022 since the candidate will be from Jubilee.

“Uhuru tried something different with people from other parties. Now we want somebody who is in Jubilee,” he said.
