The application challenging the legitimacy of the degree certificate of Wiper Machakos gubernatorial candidate Wavinya Ndeti has been dismissed by the court.
Justice George Odunga dismissed the application by the two electorates who wanted Wavinya Ndeti locked out of the Machakos governorship. This was after they were unable to prove that the former Chief Administrative Secretary’s degree certificate was fake.
Moreover, Justice Odunga stated that the petitioners also failed to prove that the Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission Dispute Resolutions Committee made a mistake in its decision to uphold Wavinya’s candidature.

Nonetheless, in her defense, Wavinya stated that she holds a valid bachelor’s degree. She further added that the petitioners are only out to mislead the country.
While giving its verdict, the court cited a report by the court’s Deputy Registrar confirming that Ndeti had the pre-requisite academic qualifications from the South London University.
