The German government has announced the provision of additional military equipment and NATO support.
In a statement dated Wednesday, November 3, 2025, German Minister of Foreign Affairs Johann Wadephul said that the country will provide Ukraine with $200 million (Ksh 31 billion) worth of defense equipment and an additional €25 million ( Ksh 3.75 billion) to NATO’s Comprehensive Assistance Package.
The German government highlighted that this support will ensure Ukrainian servicemen and women receive essential winter equipment and medical aid.
“We will also contribute an additional €25 million to the Comprehensive Assistance Package under the NATO Trust Fund to ensure that Ukrainian servicemen and women receive the winter equipment and medical support they need, especially now, with ice and snow at the frontline,” read part of the statement.
Germany’s Support for Ukraine in the Ongoing War
According to Johann Wadephul, Ukraine will receive additional support in its war with Russia. Before departing for a meeting of NATO foreign ministers, he stated that Germany would provide an additional $200 million in U.S.-made weapons.
Additionally, Berlin will contribute €25 million to NATO’s Comprehensive Assistance Package to supply Ukrainian troops with winter gear and medical support.
He noted that the $200 million weapons package will be delivered through two separate shipments under the PURL mechanism.
“To this end, Germany will procure a further $200 million worth of defense equipment for Ukraine, delivered in two packages under the PURL mechanism,” read part of the statement.

Wadephul also urged European and Euro-Atlantic partners to remain united and not allow Russian President Vladimir Putin to divide them.
“At a time when diplomatic channels are working flat out to set the right course for a just and lasting peace in Ukraine, we must not lose sight of an uncomfortable truth: Putin continues to seek to undermine European and Euro-Atlantic security. He wants to test our readiness to defend ourselves. He wants to divide us to weaken our Alliance. But he will not succeed,” read part of the statement.
Ukraine and the Russian War
The ongoing war between Ukraine and Russia has caused widespread destruction in both countries.
In Ukraine, air defense units reportedly destroyed 32 enemy drones during an attack on Tuesday, November 2, 2025. Sergey Melikov, Head of Dagestan in Ukraine, explained that the drone attack was blocked and the targets were successfully shot down.

In Russia’s Krasnodar Region, three private houses and a cell tower were damaged by falling drone debris, though no casualties were reported. However, Ukraine’s energy ministry attributed power losses in the city and several other regions to missile and drone strikes on energy infrastructure.
Johann Wadephul also revealed that Russian President Vladimir Putin shows little willingness to negotiate, despite being the initiator of the conflict.
“Putin started the war in Ukraine—and he can end it at any time. He has not yet shown any real willingness to negotiate,” said Wadephul.
