“The youths said they attacked the MCAs for attending the presidential event on Saturday, out of the six MCAs only two recorded statements with police as others escaped from the assembly,” Wanjala said.
The police commander said they are investigating the assaults and will make arrests soon.
“I knew there was a plan to attack us since I started raising issues on why Migori don’t have any development projects for the past seven months, where are bursary and poor condition at Migori Referral Hospital,” North Kanyamkago MCA George Omamba said.

He was speaking to the press at the Migori police station accompanied by West Kanyamkago MCA Peter Mijungu after they recorded a statement.
Omamba said during the Tuesday session he asked speaker Owino Likowa about their security after he felt uneasy and he was assured of security.
“I raised the issue with the sergeants-at-arms and one official police at the assembly and it seems they were under duress,” he said.
When he stepped outside the assembly the youths descended on him with beatings and he was hit by a stone on his neck and mouth.
Omamba ran towards a parked police vehicle a few meters away for protection with youths on hot pursuit, attempting to take the key and drive away with him.
The police managed to get the keys away as the youths went after Mijungu who ran away and locked himself inside one of the offices.
The youths then broke down the office door and tried to smoke him out before police intervened and rescued him.
Police said the youths also smashed the windscreen of East Kanyamkago MCA Norman Ogolla’s vehicle as he was entering the assembly. He managed to escape.
Other MCAs said to be targeted include Central Kanyamkago MCA Eunice Odii, North Kadem MCA Samson Olima Obonyo and Osewe Collince of North Kamagambo ward.
