The Kenya Meteorological Department (KMD) has released the weekly weather forecast for January 13 to January 22, 2026.
According to the weatherman, most parts of the country will experience sunny, dry conditions, while occasional rainfall is expected in some regions.
High daytime temperatures are forecast in the lowlands, Coast, North-eastern, and North-western areas, while cool nighttime conditions are expected in the Central Highlands, North and Central Rift Valley, Western Kenya, and areas near Mt. Kilimanjaro.
According to the forecast, rainfall is expected mainly in the afternoons over regions in the Highlands East and West of the Rift Valley, the Lake Victoria Basin, the Coastal region, and the South-eastern lowlands.
Kenya Met forecast for January 13 to January 22
On January 13, the weather forecast department predicted Sunny and dry conditions across several parts of Kenya.
However, occasional rainfall may occur in a few areas, particularly in the Highlands East and West of the Rift Valley, the Rift Valley, the Lake Victoria Basin, the Coastal region, and the South-eastern lowlands.
Highlands East of the Rift Valley
In the highlands east of the Rift Valley, Mornings are expected to be cloudy with occasional rainfall over a few places, giving way to sunny intervals. This area covers Nyandarua, Laikipia, Nyeri, Kirinyaga, Murang’a, Kiambu, Meru, Embu, Tharaka-Nithi, and Nairobi counties.
Afternoon showers are likely in a few areas, while nights will be partly cloudy, with possible light showers in some locations. In Nyeri County, sunny intervals are expected to prevail in the mornings, while afternoon showers are expected to occur in some places, especially the high-altitude areas, in the second half of the forecast period.

Highlands West of the Rift Valley
Elsewhere in the Highlands West of the Rift Valley, rainfall activity is expected to increase in the afternoon, with showers and isolated thunderstorms, while nighttime showers are also possible in some areas.
Counties including Kericho, Bomet, Kakamega, Vihiga, and Nandi will experience sunny intervals in the morning, with occasional light rainfall in a few places.
Rift Valley
Counties such as Baringo, Nakuru, Trans-Nzoia, Uasin-Gishu, Elgeyo-Marakwet, West Pokot, and Narok will have sunny intervals in the morning, with light rainfall in isolated areas.
Afternoon showers and thunderstorms may occur over a few places, while nights are partly cloudy with occasional showers.
Lake Victoria Basin
Counties including Kisumu, Kisii, Nyamira, Homabay, Migori, and Siaya will experience sunny intervals in the morning, with occasional light rain in a few areas.
Afternoon showers and thunderstorms are expected in a few places, while nighttime showers may occur in isolated areas. In Particular, Kisumu County will experience mainly dry weather, with isolated showers in a few areas between January 13 and January 19.
Temperatures in the lakeside city will range between 15 and 31 degrees during the forecast period, according to Kenya Met.

Coastal Counties
Mombasa, Kilifi, Lamu, Kwale, and Tana River will have sunny intervals during the day and partly cloudy nights.
Morning, afternoon, and night showers are expected in a few to several places.
South-eastern Lowlands and Northern Kenya
Counties including Machakos, Kitui, Makueni, Kajiado, Taita-Taveta, and inland Tana River will have cloudy mornings with occasional rain, followed by sunny intervals during the day.
The weatherman has warned that daytime maximum temperatures above 30°C are expected in the Coast, North-eastern, and North-western Kenya, as well as in parts of the South-eastern lowlands, Rift Valley, and Western Kenya.
During the night, minimum temperatures below 10°C are expected in parts of the Central Highlands, North and Central Rift Valley, Western Kenya, and areas near Mt. Kilimanjaro.
