The Council of Legal Education (CLE) has asked law graduates to verify their personal details before publication in the Kenya Gazette.
In a notice dated April 16, the Council said the verification exercise is mandatory for candidates listed in the notice and must be completed through the CLE Candidate Portal by Friday, April 17, 2026.
“Candidates whose registration numbers have been listed in General Notice No. 15 of 2026 are hereby required to log into the CLE Candidate Portal and confirm that their personal details are correct before publication in the Kenya Gazette, read the notice in part.

The CLE stated that ensuring the accuracy of these details is necessary before gazettement. Candidates who find errors must initiate corrections by submitting a request through the “Request Information Change” option on the portal.
The Council cautioned that candidates who fail to confirm their details by the April 17 deadline will have their particulars published as originally submitted, regardless of any errors.
The CLE also noted that candidates will be notified through the same communication channel regarding the schedule for collecting their Certificates of Compliance and Final Transcripts once the gazettement process is complete.

Role of the Council of Legal Education
The Council of Legal Education is the body responsible for legal education in Kenya, and ensuring that law schools meet the required standards, approving what is taught, and overseeing the training that law graduates must complete before they can practice as lawyers.
Part of this mandate includes maintaining accurate records of candidates who qualify for compliance certificates and final transcripts.
By requiring candidates to verify their personal information before gazettement, the CLE aims to ensure the integrity of its records and prevent avoidable disputes at later stages of legal training and professional admission.
If a graduate’s details are published incorrectly, it can delay their receipt of the Certificate of Compliance and final transcripts.
If mistakes are discovered after gazettement, fixing them will take extra time and paperwork, which can delay joining the advocates training program or meeting requirements set by employers or institutions.
