The Kenya Airports Authority has appointed Moses Wekesa as its new Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer, ending a prolonged period under acting leadership.
In a press statement on Tuesday, April 14, 2026, KAA stated that the authority’s Board conducted a competitive recruitment process.
“The Board of Directors of the Kenya Airports Authority (KAA) has appointed Mr. Moses Wekesa as the new Managing Director/CEO. This decision follows a rigorous, competitive interview process that identified Mr. Wekesa as the ideal leader to drive KAA’s ambitious agenda,” the statement read.
Wekesa takes over from Mohamud Gedi, who had been serving in an acting capacity while also holding the position of General Manager, Finance.

His tenure coincided with a period marked by increased focus on infrastructure upgrades and operational efficiency across Kenya’s airports.
With Wekesa now taking over, KAA moves to restore full executive leadership at a time when the aviation sector is recovering and experiencing renewed growth in passenger and cargo traffic.
